Sara Nuytemans was born in Belgium, 1970, she studied Industrial Design Engineering at TU Delft, followed by a Master’s in Digital Arts at the Pompeu Fabre University in Barcelona. Her work is often structured with kinetic and/or interactive elements. In her work she shows great curiosity and empathy for human action. Nuytemans has exhibited her work at, among others, Into The Great Wide Open Festival at Vlieland, The Singel in Antwerp, Treasure Hill Artist Village in Taipei, Gwangju Biennial 2012 in Gwangju, South Korea, Jogja Biennial 2011 in Yogyakarta, Kunstraum Kreuzberg-Bethanien in Berlin, Hangaram Art Museum in Seoul, Jakarta Biennial in Jakarta, Veemvloer in Amsterdam, National Center of Contemporary Art in Moscow, Lucy Festival in Istanbul, Open Space Gallery in Vienna, Interbiennale in Bratislava, Present in The Hague, ARTlab in Venice, New Forms Festival in Vancouver, Biennale SIART in La Paz, and The Piece in Leuven.
Nuytemans has undertaken residencies in ARTlab (Venice), Cemeti Art House (Yogyakarta), Arna (Harlösa, Sweden) and in Treasure Hill Artist Village (Taipei).
